Paint Correction and Touch up?

Paint correction is the process of cutting the top layer of your paint, also known as clear coat, to level out or remove all the minor imperfections and defects. This may look like swirls, scratches and so on. Paint correction is typically done using a dual action polisher using a compound like this. This course will not cover this but if you’re interested in learning how to do this, let us know in the community. We’d be happy to give you pointers. However, it’s not required for this installation. If you do the right prep on the vehicle and as long as you remove all contamination from the paint, you should be good.

Paint touch up is the process of filling in all paint chips with touch-up paint. If you have a lot of chips, you may want to do this process. We recommend using the Tesla paint touch up kit OR Dr. Colorchip’s Basic Kit. If you are doing paint touch up, keep in mind that you’ll have to wait at least 24 hours before installing PPF.
